Congratulations. You’ve decided that you are going to build a Barndominium. You go on-line and start researching, only to find a world of confusion. So much information and so little real help!
The aim of this article is to lead you through a simple process to define what it is you are going to build.
Steel or Wooden Frame?
The choice of a steel or wooden frame depends on many factors, not least of which are:
- Cost
- Location
- Longevity
- Appearance
- Design
Kit or build from scratch?
If you decide to go the kit route, the chances are high that the kit supplier has contractors and builders that they trust and who have experience using their kits. Working with their builders could be the smartest choice you could make in order to ensure your build happens quickly, efficiently and at the lowest cost, versus going it alone with your own builder who does not have experience with the kit you have chosen.

We can help by giving you a head start. See our article Bardominium Kit Suppliers for a list of companies who supply barndominium kits.
